I eat mostly vegetarian food, but I still eat meat.

I use these fasts several times a week, sometimes for literally 12-14 hours, sometimes a little more, usually no more than 24 hours. I feel light during them, and the body has the opportunity to take a break from digestion and focus on its internal processes.
